(Mallard Hen)

A one third sized Mallard Hen will be the subject of the Fall Class. One of the most seen puddle ducks in this area of the country, with her soft brown feathers and head turned in a preening position, will be a creation that you will be proud to display in your home. We will carve this bird as a "smoothie", and detail with painting in acrylics.

In these classes the beginning carvers will be able to complete a painted “smoothie,” using traditional hand tools and methods to carve and paint.

The more advanced carver will be able to add texture to the carving using their own power carving tools.

All that is required is to bring a sturdy carving knife (or use one provided by the instructor) to the first class along with the desire to learn about this early American Art form. Basswood Cut-outs, Glass eyes, paints and other finishing materials will be provided by the instructor.

Classes are at Greece Apollo Middle School, 750 Maiden Lane, Greece N.Y.
